Albany College of Pharmacy Tops St. Joe’s in Championship

STANDISH, MAINE - Three players scored in double figures to lead Albany College of Pharmacy to a 62-40 win over Saint Joseph's College in the Merry Monk Tournament Championship game. Tourney MVP Randi Maurer (West Leyden, NY) had 16 points, Pam Leonardi (New Milford, NJ) had 16 points and Stefanie Alger (Norwich, NY) recorded a game-high 18 points.

The Panthers took a commanding 20 point lead at the half and held off several St. Joe's come back attempts, outscoring the Monks 29-27 in the second half. St. Joe's sophomore Yoandree Pierre-Jacques came off the bench to score 6 points and grab 7 boards while sophomore Marie Lint (Orono, ME) had 9 points.

College of St. Joseph takes Consolation Game

STANDISH, MAINE - College of St. Joseph of Vermont (1-7) thwarted a major comeback effort by Briarcliffe College (5-3) in the final 3 minutes of play to earn a 69-58 win in the consolation game. The Fighting Saints were led by Irene Thompkins (Schenectady, NY) with 21 points and 19 rebounds.

Michelle Thompson (Plymouth, NH) had 20 points and Vicky Guetti (Rutland, VT) had 16 points and 10 boards for College of Saint Joseph. Toni Jones (Brooklyn, NY) and Jenese Bennett (Riverhead, NY) both scored 15 for Briarcliffe and Jessica Rourke (Riverhead, NY) chipped in with 13 points, 5 boards and 5 assists.
