Saint Joe’s Earns Split at Husson’s Paul Bunyan Classic

Rauscher and Regula named to All-Tourney Team

BANGOR, MAINE - The Saint Joseph's College women's basketball team went 1-1 at the Husson College Paul Bunyan Classic defeating Maine Fort Kent 57-55 on Saturday and losing 63-59 to Maine Presque Isle on Sunday. Husson had a difficult weekend, losing to both Fort Kent and Presque Isle.

On Saturday, Saint Joe's (3-6) battled a much improved Fort Kent squad and held on for a two point victory, 57-55. Three players from both teams posted double figures and senior Brittany Rauscher (Oakland, ME) turned in her finest performance of the season with 16 points, 2 blocks, 2 steals, 4 boards and a game-high 10 assists. Junior captain Kaylin Regula (Windham, ME) recorded her second double double of the year with 12 points and 11 boards while sophomore Marie Lint (Orono, ME) scored 15 points on 7 for 12 shooting.

In Sunday's contest, Maine Presque Isle took a one point lead in the final 42 seconds of the game on a Sarah Beasley jumper and St. Joe's failed to convert on a scoring chance with 15 seconds to play. The Owls closed out the game making 3 of 4 free throws to secure a 63-59 victory. Sophomore Megan Farrell (Abington, MA) recorded a double double with 15 points and 11 boards and Regula added 15 points and 9 boards. First-year Sasha Bowen (Boston, MA) had a tremendous outing with 11 points, 9 boards, 5 assists and 3 steals and first-year Alysn Ludwig (Waldoboro, ME) chipped in with 5 points, 7 boards, 3 assists and 2 steals.

The Monks will return to action on January 4th, hosting Thomas College at 5:30 PM.
