St. Joe's Splits in Blazers Invitational

11/17/07 - Saint Joseph's College tops MCLA, 66-50

CHICOPEE, MA - St. Joe's squared off against MASCAC opponent MCLA in a consolation game on Saturday and came out victorious as four players scored 10 or more points. The victory knotted up the team's record at 1-1 on the season.

SO guard Carolyn Freeman (Scarborough, ME) paced the St. Joe's women with 11 points and 10 rebounds to earn her first double-double of the early season. Freeman also added 3 blocked shots in the game. SO forward Allison Miner (Pembroke, NH) came within one rebound of putting up a double-double of her own with 10 points and 9 rebounds and also grabbed 4 steals for St. Joe's.

FY guard Erin Cartwright (Acton, MA) netted 10 points to earn her first double digit point output of her college career. Cartwright made all six of her free throw attempts in the game. SO guard Meghan Daigle (Grantham, NH) sank 5 of 8 shot attempts to chip in 10 points and added 7 rebounds.

SO guard Katie Gagnon (Portland, ME) chipped in 9 points off the bench for St. Joe's and went 2-3 on three-point shots.

Saint Joseph's College next takes to the court on Sunday, 11/25 when they host the University of Maine-Machias. Game time is 2:00 PM.


11/16/07 - St. Joe's Women Drop Season Opener

CHICOPEE, MA - The Saint Joseph's College Women's Basketball team opened their season on Friday by playing NESCAC opponent Connecticut College in the Blazers Invitational Tournament hosted by Elms College and lost, 63-36.

St. Joe's was led by SO guard Carolyn Freeman (Scarborough, ME), who netted 11 points and 6 rebounds in the losing effort. SJC will play MCLA in the consolation game of the tourney on Saturday at 1:00 PM.
