BOSTON, MA - Saint Joseph's College traveled to Simmons College
to take on the Sharks in the team's second GNAC game of the season.
The teams played even in the opening half before SJC took control
in the second half to make the final score 63-51, St. Joe's. SO
Carolyn Freeman (Scarborough, ME)
scored a game-high 23 points and grabbed 11 boards to post her
fourth double-double of the season. For the night,
Freeman shot 8-13 (62%) from the floor and 4-8
from beyond the arc.
St. Joe's improves to 9-4 and a perfect 2-0 in GNAC play while
Simmons falls to 4-8 and 0-1 in GNAC competition.
Freeman hit a 3-pointer in the closing seconds of
the first half to give SJC a four point lead heading into the
break. A 12-0 run by the Monks midway through the second half
proved to be the difference as they turned a five point lead into a
comfortable 17 point cushion. Freeman had eight of the 12 points in

For Saint Joseph's SO Meghan
Daigle (Grantham, NH) also reached double figures
with 10 points, 8 in the second half, and senior
Marie Lint (Orono, ME) came off
the bench to score 7 points and grab 6 boards in 11 minutes of
play. JR Alysn Ludwig (Waldoboro,
ME) grabbed 3 of the team's 11 steals in the game.
Freeman and Daigle each netted 2
steals apiece.
Simmons was led by sophomore Stephanie Fox who scored 12 points,
while junior Lauren Kreckie chipped in with 11.
Saint Joseph's College will host GNAC opponent Mount Ida College on
Saturday, 1/19 at 1:00 PM.
