STANDISH, ME - Saint Joseph's College improved to 11-5 overall
and 4-1 in GNAC play with a 56-44 victory over Suffolk University
on Wednesday evening. The SJC victory snaps the Rams' six-game
winning streak FY Casey Drake
(Lebanon, NH) made all three of her 3-point attempts and led St.
Joe's with 15 points in the victory. Suffolk falls to 9-4 overall,
4-1 in the GNAC, with the loss.
Rams freshman guard Christie Iwanicki (Newtown, CT) had the hot
hand in the first half with a 3 for 3 shooting performance from
beyond the arc and 12 points to lead all scorers in the first 20
minutes as Suffolk went into halftime with a 25-19 lead.
Drake hit two 3-pointers as part of a 10-0 St. Joe's run to open
the second half to take a 29-25 lead. The relentless SJC defense
kept the Suffolk offense at bay and grabbed 7 steals while forcing
the Rams to commit 12 turnovers in the second half. SJC shot 44.8%
(13-29) from the floor in the latter half and outscored the Rams

Freeman (Scarborough, ME) combined to make 4 of 4
three point shots as the duo scored 21 points to help seal the St.
Joe's victory.
St. Joe's junior guard Alysn
Ludwig (Waldoboro, ME) seemed to be everywhere on
the court and accumulated 7 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 4

chipped in with 8 points each.
Christie Iwanicki was the top Rams scorer with 15 points and made 4
of 6 three-point shots.
St. Joe's will travel to New Haven, CT to take on the Albertus
Magnus Falcons on Saturday, 1/26. The GNAC contest begins at 1:00
PM.
