STANDISH, ME - Saint Joseph's freshman center
Ashley Geel (St. George, ME) has
been named to the GNAC Weekly Honor Roll for the second time this
season.
In the week ending February 22nd, Geel scored 11.0 points and
netted 5.0 rebounds per game to help St. Joe's post a 1-1 tilt. The
freshman center played a large role in a win over Lasell on
February 21st with 13 points, an incredible nine blocked shots and
seven boards.
The Lady Monks (13-13, 6-6 GNAC) saw their 2009 campaign come to an
end on Tuesday night when they fell to top-seeded Emmanuel College
in a GNAC quarterfinal. Geel capped her rookie season with a
team-high 43 blocks and ranked third on the squad in scoring (8.0
PPG) and rebounding (5.0 RPG).
Geel's 1.7 blocks per game average ranks as the fourth-best single
season mark in program history, while her blocks total ranks fifth.
