2009 GNAC Women's Basketball All-Conference Teams Announced

STANDISH, ME - The Great Northeast Athletic Conference has announced its 2009 Women's Basketball All-Conference teams. SJC forward Meghan Daigle '10 (Grantham, NH) has been voted to the Second Team and guard Carolyn Freeman '10 (Scarborough, ME/McAuley) received Third Team honors. Allison Miner '10 (Pembroke, NH) is the Lady Monks' All-Sportsmanship Team recipient, as selected by her teammates.

Daigle led Saint Joseph's (13-13, 6-6 GNAC) in scoring, 13.9 points per game, and her 80.7% (109-135) success rate from the free throw line paced the Lady Monks and ranked fourth in the conference. She notched team-high point totals on 13 occasions, recorded a pair of double-doubles, was an All-Tournament selection in three invitational tourneys and listed on the GNAC Honor Roll twice during the season. For Daigle, the postseason accolade is her first.

Freeman, a GNAC First Team recipient in 2008, was the team's top three-point shooter (41-114, 36.0%) and rebounder (6.5 RPG) and ranked second on the squad in scoring with 11.4 points per game. Her accuracy from beyond the arc was the third-best in the GNAC and she was named to the Weekly Honor Roll two times this winter. The junior posted six double-doubles during the season and has recorded 13 in her career at St. Joe's. Historically, Freeman ranks third in the SJC career record book in both three pointers made (139) and attempted (430) and her 32.3% mark from three-point range ranks eighth all-time. With 872 points through her junior year, Freeman ranks 21st in program history and is 128 points shy of being the 19th St. Joe's player to reach 1,000 points.

Miner was selected by her peers, having best exemplified the principles of sportsmanship during the year, to represent Saint Joseph's on the GNAC All-Sportsmanship Team. The junior forward ranked fourth on the team with 4.9 rebounds per game and averaged 4.8 points per contest in during the season.
