Women's Basketball Seniors Recognized

STANDISH, ME - Three Saint Joseph's College Women's Basketball seniors were honored for their achievements with a ceremony prior to the men's basketball game versus Mount Ida College on Saturday at the Harold Alfond Center.

Allison Miner (Pembroke, NH), Meghan Daigle (Grantham, NH) and Carolyn Freeman (Scarborough, ME) were recognized along with their parents for having outstanding basketball careers at St. Joe's.

Originally, the senior trio was to be honored prior to their game against Mount Ida on Saturday, but the Mustangs forfeited their final five GNAC contests, including the February 20th game against the Monks, after their season was cut short in early February.

Miner is a four-year player and two-time captain for the Monks. In 96 career games, she has tallied 514 points and 420 rebounds with a 76% success rate from the free-throw line, which ranks 10th in program history. Miner has also garnered GNAC All-Sportsmanship Team honors following each of the last two seasons.

Daigle, a three-year starter, two-year captain and 2009 All-Conference Second Team honoree, scored 817 points and grabbed 426 caroms while donning the Royal Blue. She is 9th in career free-throw percentage with a 77% rate, ranks 27th in career points and her 11.5 points per game average is 12th in team history.

Freeman, a four-year starter and two-time All-GNAC recipient, tallied 1,111 points (16th), 593 rebounds (11th), 248 assists (10th), 173 three-pointers (3rd), 518 three-point attempts (3rd) and a 33.4% (7th) shooting percentage from downtown in her career at St. Joe's. The 2010 tri-captain registered 14 double-doubles and missed just one game in four years as a Monk.

Saint Joseph's has posted a 51-50 (.505) record in the last four seasons and the trifecta as combined for 42% of the Monks' offensive production in the last three seasons.

St. Joe's closed out the 2009-10 campaign 12-12 overall and 7-5 in GNAC play. The Monks' conference record placed the Royal Blue in a four-way tie for the final three spots in the GNAC tourney, but Saint Joseph's was left out due to conference tie-breaker rules.
