STANDISH, ME - Freshman standout Morgan Cahill (Yarmouth, Maine) has been selected as the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Women's Basketball Rookie of the Week for the fifth time this winter.

Cahill averaged 14.0 PPG, 4.5 RPG, 1.5 SPG and 1.5 BPG in hard-fought losses to Bates College and Emmanuel College last week. The rookie center went 7-11 from the floor and netted 18 in 24 minutes versus perennial GNAC favorite Emmanuel on Saturday.

The first-year center also claimed Maine Women's Basketball Coaches Association (MWBCA) honor roll mention for her play in two contests last week. In all, Cahill has earned five GNAC Rookie of the Week honors, five MWBCA rookie accolades and a pair of MWBCA honor roll listings this season.

Through 22 contests, Cahill leads the Monks in scoring (13.4 PPG), rebounding (7.8 RPG) and blocked shots (47) and ranks second on the team in field goal percentage (.490, 117-239). She currently ranks as the GNAC-leader in blocks average with 2.1 rejections per contest.

Cahill's 295 points this season ranks as the most scored by a Saint Joseph's freshman since 1999 when Stacy Gelinas '02 netted 302 during her rookie campaign. Kendra Coates '91 poured in 451 points (15.6 PPG) as a freshman in 1986 and currently holds the SJC rookie scoring record.

Saint Joseph's (12-10, 6-3 GNAC) will play at Albertus Magnus College on Saturday at 1:00 PM.
