GNAC Women's Basketball Tournament Seeds Announced

BOSTON, MA – The 2013 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Women's Basketball tournament pairings have been released. Saint Joseph's College (15-10, 9-3 GNAC) has secured the #3 seed and will host #6 Johnson & Wales University (12-13, 7-5 GNAC) in a tourney quarterfinal on Tuesday evening at 7:00 PM.

Emmanuel College (20-5, 12-0 GNAC), which clinched its 13th-consecutive 20-win season with a victory over Suffolk University on Saturday, has earned the top seed in the eight-team tournament and will host eighth-seeded University of Saint Joseph (14-10, 6-6 GNAC) at 7:00 PM on Tuesday night. One of the top teams in New England, the Saints have made 17 NCAA Tournament appearances with 14 GNAC Championships, including six-consecutive conference crowns, and advanced to the NCAA DIII Tournament "Elite 8" last winter.

In other GNAC quarterfinal action, second-seeded Suffolk (19-6, 10-2 GNAC) is set to host #7 Emerson College (13-12, 7-5 GNAC) and #4 Rivier University (15-9, 8-4 GNAC) takes on #5 Albertus Magnus College (19-6, 7-5 GNAC). Both games will begin at 7:00 PM on Tuesday evening.

Saint Joseph's defeated Johnson & Wales, 71-61, earlier this season in a contest played at the Harold Alfond Center on January 21st. The Monks are 3-3 in the history of the series with JWU and have defeated the Wildcats in three straight meetings.
