Cahill Named MWBCA Co-Player of the Week

STANDISH, Maine – The Maine Women's Basketball Coaches Association (MWBCA) weekly honors have been released and Saint Joseph's College junior center Morgan Cahill (Yarmouth, Maine) has been selected as the Co-Player of the Week.

Cahill collects the honor after averaging 21.0 points and 10.0 rebounds in a 2-0 week for the Monks. She netted a career-high 30 points with 12 rebounds in a double-overtime victory at Husson University on Thursday and added 12 points and eight caroms in a 60-46 win over Maine Maritime Academy on Saturday.

For Cahill, the MWBCA top player honor is the second of her career, as she claimed the first such accolade on February 10th, 2014. A two-time Second Team All-State and 2013 MWBCA Rookie of the Year selection, Cahill shares this week's award with University of New England junior Sadie DiPierro (South Portland, Maine).

For the second-consecutive week, a Saint Joseph's rookie has garnered MWBCA Honor Roll mention. Freshman guard Emily Quirion (Augusta, Maine) was listed on the honor roll last on November 17th and first-year forward Norma Waggett (Saugus, Mass.) claims the same accolade after averaging 8.0 points and 10.0 rebounds in wins over Husson and Maine Maritime this week. Waggett recorded the first double-double of her career with 10 points and 14 boards in a double-OT win against the Eagles on Thursday.

Saint Joseph's (5-0) returns to action this Sunday when the Monks face off against Southern Maine in the Annual Costello Cup game. Tip-off in Gorham is slated for 5:30 PM.
