McNamara Collects Three Weekly Accolades

STANDISH, Maine – Weekly honors from various associations have been announced and Saint Joseph's College freshman guard Kelsi McNamara (West Newbury, Mass.) has earned a trio of awards.

The first-year standout has been selected as the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) and Maine Women's Basketball Coaches Association (MWBCA) Rookie of the Week and has also been listed on the New England Women's Basketball Association (NEWBA) weekly honor roll.

McNamara claims the accolades after having netted 35 points in a 74-67 victory over University of Southern Maine on Sunday night. The freshman guard was 6-8 from three-point land and 11-12 from the FT line en route to recording the third-most points in SJC women's basketball history and most since the 1993-94 season. She also scored 10 points with five assists, five rebounds and five steals in a triumph over Maine-Farmington on Monday evening.

Through six contests this season, McNamara is averaging 15.8 points, 3.2 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 2.2 steals per game while shooting 40.0% (25-65) from the field, 53.1% (17-32) from three-point range and 76.5% (26-34) from the free throw line. She leads the team in scoring, three-pointers made (17), three-point percentage, free throws made (26) and steals (13) and is tied for the team-lead in assists (19).

McNamara has now been selected as the GNAC and MWBCA Rookie of the Week following each of the last two reporting periods while the NEWBA honor counts as the first of her young collegiate career.

Saint Joseph's (5-1) returns to action on Saturday when the Monks face University of Maine-Fort Kent in the Colby College Invitational Tournament at 6:00 PM.
