Eagles Topple Monks, 77-50

BANGOR, Maine – Husson University (1-0) defeated Saint Joseph's College (1-1), 77-50, in non-conference women's basketball action on Thursday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Saint Joseph's endured a difficult first quarter, shooting 18.2% (2-11) from the floor in the opening 10 minutes, and would not recover as Husson owned a 22-7 lead heading into the second stanza. With the help of sizeable advantages in second chance points (25-8) and points off turnovers (18-5), the Eagles rolled to victory in what was their 2016-17 season opener.

LEADERS – SAINT JOSEPH'S:

  • Junior forward Regan McFerran (Albany, N.Y.) led the team with 11 poings and six rebounds
  • Senior guard Abbie Eastman (Norway, Maine) scored nine points with three boards
  • Sophomore guard Kelsi McNamara (West Newbury, Mass.) added nine points, four caroms, and two assists
  • Sophomore guard Hannah Marks (Waldoboro, Maine) chipped in with six points and five rebounds

LEADERS – HUSSON:

  • Senior guard Darla Morales (Oxnard, Calif.) led all players with 21 points off a 5-9 three-point shooting performance
  • Sophomore guard Kenzie Worcester (Washburn, Maine) scored 19 points
  • Junior forward Anna MacKenzie (Plymouth, Maine) added eight points and seven rebounds
  • Sophomore guard Maegan True (Holden, Maine) contributed eight points and six rebounds
