McNamara Selected as MWBCA Player of the Week

STANDISH, Maine – The Maine Women's Basketball Coaches Association (MWBCA) weekly honors have been announced and Saint Joseph's College junior guard Kelsi McNamara (West Newbury, Mass.) has garnered Player of the Week accolades.

McNamara averaged 20.5 points, 3.5 assists, and 3.5 rebounds per game in a pair of one-sided victories for the Monks last week. The junior standout netted 18 points with four assists in a 79-50 triumph over Colby College on Wednesday and tallied 23 points, five rebounds, and three assists in a huge 69-55 win over Emmanuel College on Saturday.

For McNamara, the MWBCA Player of the Week honor counts as the second of her career and first since March 2nd, 2017. The 2016 MWBCA Co-Rookie of the Year also earned five weekly rookie awards during her freshman campaign.

Through seven games for the 6-1 Monks, McNamara is averaging 16.4 points, 5.0 assists, and 2.6 rebounds per game while shooting 86.7% (26-30) from the free throw line.

McNamara was also listed on the GNAC Weekly Honor Roll for her play in two games last week.

Saint Joseph's will host Rivier University in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) contest Saturday at 1:00 PM.
