Saint Joseph’s Records Second-Straight Win Over UMaine-Augusta, 72-29

STANDISH, Maine – Senior guard Cassandra Stapelfeld (Brookline, N.H.) netted 16 to lead four Saint Joseph's College (2-0) double-digit scorers as the Monks defeated UMaine-Augusta (0-4), 72-29, at the Harold Alfond Center on Sunday afternoon.

For St. Joe's, the victory over UMaine-Augusta is the second in as many days, as the Monks defeated the Moose by a 77-32 margin yesterday at the Alfond Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

With the Monks off to a somewhat sluggish start, junior Kaleigh Walsh (Windham, N.H.) came off the bench to ignite the offense with 11 points during an 18-5 run to lift the hosts to a 22-8 lead after one quarter of play.

Sophomore Jayne Howe (Pembroke, Mass.) scored eight points in a second stanza dominated by the Monks, as SJC outscored UMA by a 22-3 margin and held a daunting 44-11 advantage going into intermission.
