Monks Face Eagles on Senior Day

STANDISH, Maine – Saint Joseph's College hosted Husson University in a head-to-head swim meet at the Harold Alfond Center Pool on Saturday afternoon. The Eagles took home a pair of wins with a 104-70 women's triumph and a 106-45 men's victory.

SENIOR MOMENT:

Prior to the start of the event the Saint Joseph's swim program held a brief ceremony to honor the team's three seniors: Alexis Coiley (Fort Fairfield, Maine), Autumn Nostrom (Lyman, Maine), and Emily Roy (Sidney, Maine). All three athletes are four-year members of the SJC swimming program.

THE RUNDOWN – WOMEN:

  • Roy won the 50-Back (33.02) and placed third in the 50-Breast (39.42)
  • Sophomore Alirose Beauregard (Dover, N.H.) won the 200-Free (2:09.95) and placed second in the 100-Free (1:00.33)
  • Sophomore Hannah Kibbin (Augusta, Maine) won the 50-Breast (38.08) and finished third in the 100-IM (1:20.72)
  • Coiley finished second in the 50-Breast (38.39)
  • Freshman Delaney Young (Woolwich, Maine) placed second in the 400-IM (5:46.65)
  • Freshman Madison Mills (Atkinson, N.H.) was the runner-up in the 50-Fly (30.36) and placed third in the 50-Free (30.03)
  • Mills, Coiley, Beauregard and Roy won the 400-Free relay with a 4:08.63 time

THE RUNDOWN – MEN:

  • Freshman Evan Whaley (Merrimack, N.H.) won the 400-IM (4:47.00) and 100-Free (53.32)
  • Junior Anthony Blatus (Dracut, Mass.) placed second in the 50-Free (27.24) and 50-Breast (36.29)
  • Sophomore Ryan Watson (Bangor, Maine) was third in the 400-IM (5:10.28)
  • Sophomore Joseph Nichols (Tyngsborough, Mass.) finished third in the 50-Breast (38.38)

The Monks will compete in the GNAC Championship next Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
