Men 13th, Women 17th Through 34 Events at NEISDA Championship

KINGSTON, R.I. – Saint Joseph's College wrapped up the second full day of the 2020 New England Intercollegiate Swimming & Diving Association (NEISDA) Championships at the University of Rhode Island on Saturday. The SJC men are currently in 13th with 37 points while the St. Joe's women are in 17th with 131 points through 34 events.

Saint Joseph's raced in a total of five finals events on Saturday evening with freshman Evan Whaley (Merrimack, N.H.) posting a 15th-place finish in the 200-Free and both squads sending a pair of relay quartets to the evening portion.

RELAY RACERS:

  • Emily Roy (Sidney, Maine), Alexis Coiley (Fort Fairfield, Maine), Madison Mills (Atkinson, N.H.), and Autumn Nostrom (Lyman, Maine) placed 15th in the 200-Medley relay with a 2:05.47 time
  • Alirose Beauregard (Dover, N.H.), Mills, Coiley, and Nostrom finished 15th in the 200-Free relay (1:50.63)
  • Joseph Nichols (Tyngsborough, Mass.), Anthony Blatus (Dracut, Mass.), Whaley, and Ryan Watson (Bangor, Maine) posted a 1:57.30 time and placed 13th in the 200-Medley relay
  • Nichols, Blatus, Whaley, and Watson raced to a 13th-place finish in the 200-Free relay (1:42.44)

Roger Williams University remains in first place for both genders through 34 events as the Hawks' women have 1,056 points and the RWU men have notched 711 points. On the women's side, Simmons University is currently in second with 941 points while Keene State College is third with 790.

Roger Williams owns a comfortable lead on the men's side, as Keene State is 317 points behind the Hawks with 394 points while Norwich University stands in third with 376.

The four-day event concludes tomorrow with the preliminary events starting at 10:00 AM and the finals kicking off at 5:30 PM.
