Standish, ME - The Saint Joseph's College Field
Hockey team took on the Becker College Hawks on Sunday. The Monks
came away with a 5-0 victory and improved their season record to
9-6.
After a scoreless first half, the Monks found the back of the net
with regularity in the second stanza. SO Julia
Ostrowski (Albany, NY) struck first for St. Joe's in the
37th minute with FY Maria Arsenault (Berlin, NH)
picking up the assist. SO Jessica Baker
(Scarborough, ME) followed with her 3rd goal of the season off
assists from teammates SR Darcey Ward (Dresden,
ME) and FY Kayla Nowell (Bridgton, ME). JR
Kelly Emerson (Vassalboro, ME) scored the next two
goals for the Monks with Baker getting the assist on the first and
Ostrowski the helper on the second. FY Renee Leach
(Shapleigh, ME) wrapped up the scoring for Saint Joseph's College
with her second goal of the season in the 67th minute. FY GK
Colleen Grant (Bourne, MA) stopped the only shot
she faced for the shutout as the Monks outshot the Hawks 19-1 in
the contest.
St. Joe's hosts the University of Maine-Farmington on Wednesday,
10/24. Game time is 3:00 PM.
