Standish, ME - The SJC field hockey team suffered a narrow 2-1
loss to visiting Southern Maine on Thursday afternoon. Sophomore
midfielder Jaimee Brett (Otisfield, ME) notched
the lone goal for the Monks.
Southern Maine opened the scoring at 13:52 when JR Alyssa Kraus
(Standish, ME) converted off a penalty corner. The Monks out-shot
the Huskies 5-1 in the period and were rewarded when Brett netted
her first goal of the season to tie the score 1-1 at 22:28.
The teams battled in the second stanza with the Huskies holding a
slight advantage in shots (6-5). SO India Lowe (Gloucester, MA)
scored the deciding goal for USM at 60:31.
St. Joe's hosts Wheelock College on Sunday, October 7th at 1:00 PM.
