BOSTON, MA - Six different Lady Monks scored as Saint Joseph's (5-1, 1-0 NAC) defeated non-conference opponent Wheelock College (1-7) on Wednesday evening, 9-1. Gina Gaetani '09 (Auburn, ME) scored three goals, Julia Ostrowski '10 (Albany, NY) netted a pair of goals and added two assists and Kayla Nowell '11 (Bridgton, ME) added a goal and four assists in the blowout victory. Sarah Bartell '12 (Exeter, NH) chipped in with a goal and two assists while Kelly Emerson '09 (Vassalboro, ME) and Amanda Sebastiao '12 (Uxbridge, MA) scored a goal apiece in the triumph.

Ostrowski, needing just one point to break the career scoring mark at St. Joe's, scored six points in the game to give her 64 for a career. The junior forward passes Jen Marsh (Enfield, NH), who scored 58 points in two seasons (1999-00), to attain the all-time mark. Ostrowski needs just three goals to capture the career goals record (23), which is currently held by Marsh.

Gaetani opened the game scoring in the 14th minute on a pass from Nowell to notch her third goal of the season and put her team on top, 1-0. Wheelock answered barely three minutes later with a tally from Jill Chaffee to knot the game at one apiece.

The Lady Monks answered with eight unanswered goals, starting with Bartell's second marker of the year, unassisted, in the 33rd minute. Bartell registered an assist on the next SJC goal, scored by Nowell, her team-leading ninth of the season, two minutes later to give the Royal Blue a 3-1 lead going into the break.

Ostrowski struck for the historic goal at the 36:07 mark on a pass from Nowell and added another tally two minutes later, the assist going to Gaetani, to lift the SJC lead to 5-1.

Not to be outdone, Gaetani sandwiched an Emerson goal, her fourth of the year on a pass from Ostrowski at the 42:57 mark, with two goals of her own to post a hat trick effort in the non-conference contest. Sebastiao added her second goal of the season, the assist going to Bartell, in the 57th minute to cap the game scoring with the Royal Blue on top, 9-1.

Wheelock goalkeeper Meredith Race posted 23 saves in the losing bid. St. Joe's outshot the Wildcats 33-2 and held a 9-4 edge in penalty corners.

Saint Joseph's will travel to Bangor, ME to face off against NAC rival Husson University on Saturday, September 27th at 1:00 PM.
