MADISON, NJ – Farleigh Dickinson University-Florham (3-4) defeated Saint Joseph's (3-1), 1-0, in non-conference field hockey action Saturday evening. Monks goalkeeper Meaghan Johnson '12 (Portland, ME/Cheverus) made five saves in the losing effort.
The evenly-matched contest was scoreless until Victoria Nedo '13 (Rockaway, NJ) put the Devils on top for good with a marker off a penalty corner with 13:29 remaining in regulation. An attempt by Kelsey Kistle '13 (Sandyston, NJ) was deflected in front, but Nedo finished the play by hitting the ball in mid-air into the back of the cage.
Courtney Rague '11 (Old Orchard Beach, ME) recorded three of the Monks' five shots on net in the loss. Devils netminder Tess Loughran '14 (Newton, NJ) played well in goal for the hosts and made five stops in the victory.
Saint Joseph's will conclude its New Jersey trip with a game at Kean University tomorrow at 2:00 PM.
