Field Hockey Program Steps Up to Help Out

STANDISH, ME - Saint Joseph's College field hockey players and coaches volunteered their time to help conduct a clinic at Great Salt Bay Community School in Damariscotta, Maine on Sunday, April 21st.

Team players and staff held a four-hour clinic for players ages 9-13 as a fundraiser to help raise money for the Great Salt Bay (GSB) Field Hockey Association. The funds raised that day will be used to help furnish transportation to games as well as pay coaches' stipends and fund general everyday activities for the team.

Approximately 15 youth field hockey players attended the clinic and all involved enjoyed their time on the field. The event, which could be described as a "kick-off fundraiser," was a huge success and other larger fundraisers have been scheduled.

Rising junior goalkeeper Grace Bibber (Damariscotta, Maine), a GSB alum, played a key role in the Monks' involvement in the fundraiser. GSB Head Coach Cheryl Trummett has helped lead the fundraising efforts in an effort to keep the program running.
