Dumond Chosen as GNAC Player of the Week

STANDISH, Maine – The Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) weekly awards have been released and Saint Joseph's College sophomore forward Kelsey Dumond (Lewiston, Maine) has been selected as the GNAC Field Hockey Player of the Week.

Dumond tallied eight points with three goals and a pair of assists in a 2-0 week for the Monks. The second-year standout scored in a 2-0 win over Thomas College on Wednesday and totaled two goals and a pair of assists for a career-high six points in a lopsided triumph over Mount Ida College on Saturday.

The sophomore forward has tallied seven goals and eight assists for 22 total points through 11 games – all starts – for the Monks this fall. She ranks second on the team in assists and is tied for second on the squad in points. For Dumond, a two-time North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Rookie of the Week honoree last season, the weekly top player honor is the first of her collegiate career.

Dumond is the second St. Joe's player to earn the Player of the Week accolade this fall. Senior Theresa Hendrix (Scarborough, Maine/Cheverus) collected the same honor on September 29th.

Saint Joseph's (10-1, 4-0 GNAC) will play at Johnson & Wales University on Saturday at 12:00 PM.
