Hendrix & Drew Collect NFHCA All-Region Recognition

STANDISH, Maine – The 2014 Longstreth/NFHCA Division III All-Region Teams have been released and a pair of Saint Joseph's College standouts have been honored.

Senior midfielder Theresa Hendrix (Scarborough, Maine/Cheverus) has earned First Team All-New England East Region honors while senior forward Effie Drew (Portland, Maine/Portland) is listed on the Second Team for the second-consecutive season.

Hendrix, the 2014 GNAC Defensive Player of the Year and First Team All-GNAC selection, claims her first field hockey regional accolade after netting six goals and 11 assists for 23 points during her final collegiate campaign. A three-year team captain, Hendrix led the conference in assists and ranked 13th nationally in assists per game (0.65) as of November 16th. She also ranked as the team's leader in shots (89) and shots on goal (53).

Hendrix is just the third player in the 20-year history of the Saint Joseph's field hockey program to collect First Team All-NFHCA All-Regional honors. She joins former standout forward Julia Ostrowski '10 (2009) and goalkeeper Meaghan Johnson '12 (2011) on the short list.

Drew, a two-time First Team All-Conference selection, earns Second Team All-NFHCA for the second year in a row after scoring 11 goals with three assists for 25 total points as a senior. She tied for the team lead in goals and finished the season tied for second on the squad in points. In just two seasons with the Monks, Drew tallied 21 goals and six assists for 48 total points with five game-winning goals.

Under the watch of 10th-year Head Coach Rupert Lewis, Saint Joseph's went 14-3 overall and 6-0 in GNAC play en route to earning the top seed in the 2014 GNAC Tournament. With a bye in the quarterfinal round, the Monks faced #4 Anna Maria College in a semifinal matchup at Mercy Field on November 5th and suffered a season-ending 1-0 loss at the hands of the AMCATS.
