STANDISH, Maine – The Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) weekly accolades have been released and a pair of Saint Joseph's College field hockey players have been honored.
Junior forward Libby Pomerleau (Limerick, Maine) and freshman forward Emma Rutledge (Alfred, Maine) have been named as the GNAC Field Hockey Player and Rookie of the Week, respectively.
Pomerleau scored two goals with two assists for six total points in a 2-0 week for the Monks. The junior standout netted a goal and was credited with two assists in a 5-1 victory over Lasell College to help the Monks clinch the top seed in the GNAC Tournament on Wednesday.
Rutledge netted a goal with two assists in a 2-0 week for the Monks. She notched a goal and a helper in a 4-1 win over Plymouth State on Monday and assisted on the game-winner, a Kara Kelly (York, Maine) strike in the 22nd minute, in the triumph over Lasell on Wednesday.
Through 18 games, Pomerleau has scored 17 goals with six assists for 40 total points with five game-winners. She currently leads the conference in game-winning goals, ranks second in goals, and third in points. The GNAC weekly award is her second of the season and sixth of her collegiate career.
Rutledge has tallied 13 goals and 13 assists for 39 total points over 18 contests and ranks second in the GNAC in assists, fourth in points, and fifth in goals.
Saint Joseph's (17-1, 7-0 GNAC), the top seed in the GNAC Tournament, will host #4 Simmons University in a semifinal contest on Wednesday at 7:00 PM.
