SJC Field Hockey Announces the Class of 2024

SJC Field Hockey Announces the Class of 2024

STANDISH, Maine – Head Coach Rupert Lewis has announced the field hockey recruiting class of 2024.

Lewis, who will begin his 16th year as the Monks' leader this fall, has guided Saint Joseph's to four-consecutive Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Championships and subsequent NCAA Tournament berths. In 2019, the Monks blanked Lasell College, 4-0, in the conference championship on November 9th and fell to #14 Babson College, 2-0, in the first round of the NCAA Tournament four days later.

The incoming class features 10 players – five from Maine, three from New Hampshire, and two from Massachusetts – and includes five forwards, three midfielders, and a pair of goalkeepers. The freshman group will be asked to help replace the significant contributions made by the 2020 graduating class, which featured three starters who garnered multiple All-Conference honors.

The Monks' three seniors - Maddy Beaulieu (West Gardiner, Maine), Libby Pomerleau (Limerick, Maine), and Kylee Veilleux (Sabattus, Maine) - helped Saint Joseph's win four GNAC Championships while posting a 66-19 (.777) overall record, including a 25-2 (.926) mark in GNAC play, during their time on the turf. Pomerleau, a two-time All-American and four-time First Team All-Conference honoree, graduated in May as the program's all-time leader in goals (65), points (156) and game-winning goals (22).

"I am extremely excited to welcome to campus this fall a very diverse and resilient recruiting class of 2024," adds Coach Lewis. "I feel this exceptionally unique class brings a strong level of experience and talent in a variety of field positions. They will play an important role in the growth, success and building the culture of our program. I look forward to being part of their successful experience over the next four years both on the field and in the classroom."
