STANDISH, MAINE - The announcement of the 2004-05 Division III
All-Independent Men's and Women's Basketball Teams came from Kansas
City, Missouri today. The Association consists of 17 Division III
independent institutions that have joined together to recognize
student-athletes at independent institutions and to provide
exempted postseason championship competition in seven sports in
2004-05.
Coach Rob Sanicola led Saint Joseph's College to a 15-12 record and
had three players recognized by the Association.
Senior Jon Pratt (Gloucester, MA) was named to the All-Independent
First Team after scoring 458 points and averaging a team high 17.6
points per game. Pratt earned numerous honors including DIII Player
of the Week, Northeast Regional All-Tournament Team and All
Tournament Team at the Maine Event.
Senior captain Steve Monteiro (Ipswich, MA) received Second Team
honors and scored 413 points this season. Monteiro averaged 15.3
points, led the Monks in rebounds with 7.2 boards a game and was
named to the Eastern Connecticut Tip off All-Tournament Team.
Co-captain Chad Pulkkinen (Windham, ME) earned an Honorable Mention
from the Association. Pulkkinen was third in scoring and second in
assists.
