BRUNSWICK, Maine - Five Bowdoin players reached double figures
as the
Polar Bear (16-8) pulled out an 82-74 win over Saint Joseph's
College on Tuesday evening. The Monks drop to 15-7 with the
loss.
Bowdoin came out red-hot in the opening frame and led 23-7 after
nine minutes. The Polar Bears connected on 57% of their shots in
the opening stanza to the Monks' 38% and held a 39-27 lead at
intermission.
Despite a second-half rally, where the Monks stormed back shooting
59%, they were only able to chip away at the Bowdoin lead, trimming
it down to five points, 65-60, with five minutes on the clock, but
the Polar Bears would not be denied, going on a 12-0 run to seal
the contest.
Saint Joseph's was led by junior Matt Plummer (Naples, Me.) with 16
points and senior Chad Pulkkinen (Windham, Me.) with 13.
The Monks return to action this weekend for a homestand versus the
"County" schools, hosting Maine-Fort Kent at 3 PM on Saturday, Feb.
18, and Maine-Presque Isle at 2 PM on Sun. 2/19.
