MONKS NIP TERRIERS WITH A COMEBACK OVERTIME WIN AT HOME, 99-91

Matt Plummer and Elbie Murphy Combine for the Monks' last 27 of 35 points

Standish, ME - Freshman Elbie Murphy (Loudonville, NY) scored 22 of his 24 points in the second half and overtime as Saint Joseph's College (10-5) posted a 99-91 come-from-behind victory over Thomas College (4-11) in a non-conference men's basketball game on "The Lake" in Standish Wednesday evening.

Murphy stepped up after going just 1-for-4 from the floor in the first half. After a sluggish first 20 minutes, he responded after halftime going 6-for-9 from the floor, including 10-for-12 from the line to lift the Monks to the come-back win.

Senior Noah LaRoche (Exeter, NH) recorded only the third triple double in Saint Joseph's College history with 15 points, 10 assists and 11 rebounds. The last time a triple double was earned by a Monk was back in 1999 by Saint Joseph's Head Coach Rob Sanicola. Steve Schuler was the first Monk player ever to accomplish that feat.

Matt Plummer (Casco, ME) led the Monks with 26 points and 12 rebounds and Chad Pulkkinen (Windham, ME) was the fourth Monk to score in double figures hitting for 18 points.

The Monks held a 30-to-39 free throw advantage in the second half and overtime. Thomas College was 10-of-15 on the night.

Thomas freshman Aecio Madeira led all scorers with 31 points and 12 rebounds. He was 15-of-28 from the floor.

The Monks return to action this weekend on a roadtrip to "the County" for doubleheaders with the women's team at Maine-Presque Isle and Maine-Fort Kent.
