Waterville, ME - GR Chad Pulkinnen (Windham,
ME) recorded 22 points to lift the Monks to an 85-66 win over
Thomas College last night. Three other players scored in double
digits as the St. Joe's offense came to life in the second half.
With the win, the Monks improve to 9-4 on the season.
The teams battled to a 37-37 deadlock in a first half marked by
nine lead changes. St. Joe's built a six-point lead on a basket and
free throw by senior Marcus Alexander (Niceville,
FL) to make it 37-31 at 2:39. The Terriers responded with a
three-pointer by Reggie Jett at 1:14 and tied the game with five
seconds to go in the half on a three by Adam Rich.
The Monks started the second half with a pair of three-pointers by
Pulkkinen and a three by senior Pat Mileski (Cape
Elizabeth, ME) and went on to outscore the Terriers 48-29 on 62%
shooting.
Sophomore R.J. Mattison (Hamden, CT) had 16 points
and sophomore Elbie Murphy (Loudonville, NY) and
Alexander each had 13 points apiece.
Thomas was led by Darrell Alexander with 18 points and Jett with 16
points.
