Monks Sweep Two-Game Road Trip

Presque Isle, ME - The Monks defeated Maine Presque Isle 87-60 on Saturday (Dec. 2) in the first of two games in "the County". GR Chad Pulkikinen (Windham, ME) and sophomore Elbie Murphy (Loudonville, NY) paced St. Joe's with 25 and 24 points, respectively.

The Monks connected on 6 of 11 shots from behind the arc in the first half and built a 48-31 lead at the break. St. Joe's kept the pressure on the Owls during the second half and shot 51% from the floor. Sophomore R.J. Mattison (Hamden, CT) finished with 15 points for St. Joe's.

Presque Isle's Rodney Montgomery netted 18 points in the loss.

Fort Kent, ME - Senior Marcus Alexander (Niceville, FL) led the way with a game-high 16 points on Sunday (Dec. 3) as St. Joe's earned a 71-42 win over Fort Kent. GR Chad Pulkkinen (Windham, ME) had 12 points and senior Colby Emmons (Portland, ME) chipped in with 10 points.

After being up 8 at the half, St. Joe's pulled away in the second stanza, outscoring the Bengals 41-20. The SJC defense forced 27 Fort Kent turnovers.

Akstinas Edmundas was the only Fort Kent player to score in double digits with 10 points.
