NEWTON, MA - The Saint Joseph's College Men's Basketball team faced GNAC foe Lasell College to kick off the team's conference schedule on Saturday. The Monks kept the game close most of the way but lost 93-75 as three Lasell players reached the 20 point plateau and accounted for 70 of the Lasers' 93 points. FY Chris Davis (New York, NY) led all SJC scorers with his season high 21 points.

With the loss, St. Joe's falls to 1-3 overall, 0-1 in GNAC competition. Lasell improves to 4-1 and 1-0 in GNAC games.

Lasell College shot an outstanding 51.7% from beyond the arc in the game. St. Joe's shot well from the field overall, 47.7%, but the Monks shooters came up empty from downtown, going 0-10 on three point attempts in the contest.

For the Monks, JR Elbie Murphy (Loudonville, NY) scored 15 points and added 7 rebounds and JR Mitch Ouellet (Fort Kent, ME) netted 10 points in the losing effort. SO Ray Eatmon (Huntington, NY) grabbed 10 rebounds and 4 steals in the game.

Lasell College was paced by JR Jose Guitian with 27 points, followed by JR Brad Caravoulias, who scored 23 including an impressive 7-11 performance from beyond the arc. SR Jamie Crawford also reached 20 points for the Lasers in the game.

These teams will face each other again on Thursday, 1/17, as the Monks host the Lasers and attempt to even the score between the GNAC rivals.

The Men will host in-state rival Husson College (2-1) on Wednesday, 12/5, @ 7:00 PM.
