STANDISH, ME - The third installment of the Maine Men's Basketball Coaches and Writers Association (MMBCWA) weekly report has been announced and Monks' sophomore guard Chris Petzy (Kensington, NH/Exeter) has received Honor Roll mention for his play during the holiday break.
Petzy scored 19 points off the bench for the Monks in an 82-76 triumph over Farmingdale State, which advanced to the Elite 8 in the NCAA DIII Tournament last March, on Saturday, January 2nd. The sophomore guard made three treys and went 4-6 from the line in the winning effort.
Saint Joseph's received five points in the MMBCWA Poll, behind top-ranked Bowdoin (23 pts), Colby (16), Bates (15), Thomas (8) and Husson (6).
The Monks will square off against Bowdoin (7-2) in Brunswick on Wednesday evening at 7:00 PM.
