Petzy Listed on GNAC & MMBCWA Weekly Honor Rolls

STANDISH, ME – Saint Joseph's senior guard Chris Petzy (Kensington, N.H.) has garnered weekly honor roll mention from the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) and the Maine Men's Basketball Coaches and Writers Association (MMBCWA).

Petzy averaged 16.0 PPG and 4.0 RPG while shooting 100% (8-8) from the FT line and 42% (10-24) from three-point range in a 1-2 week for Saint Joseph's. The senior guard registered 20 points and a season-high eight boards in a loss to Anna Maria on Monday.

The second-year captain currently leads the Royal Blue in three-pointers made (57) and ranks second on the squad in scoring (15.5 PPG), field goals made (104), three-point percentage (39.5%), free throws made (61) and free-throw percentage (85.9%).

Petzy became the 35th player in program history to surpass the 1,000-point milestone in a win over Husson on November 30th and has scored 1,239 points in 101 career contests. He currently holds the second-highest free-throw percentage (79.4%, 223-281) in the SJC annals (behind teammate Zach O'Brien (Schenectady, N.Y.)) and ranks 19th in career points.

One of the finest long-range shooters in recent memory, Petzy also ranks second all-time in three-point percentage (41.5%), third in trifectas attempted (453), and fourth in three-pointers made (188).

The Monks are currently ranked second in the MMBCWA Weekly Poll behind Bowdoin College.

Saint Joseph's will host GNAC-rival Rivier College on Saturday at 1:00 PM. A brief ceremony honoring the program's four seniors – Petzy, O'Brien, Spenser Adams (North Yarmouth, Mass.), and Tom Ray (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) – will be held before tip-off.
