Monks Ranked First in Maine, Jobin Honor Roll Worthy

STANDISH, ME - The Maine Men's Basketball Coaches and Writers Association (MMBCWA) weekly poll and honors have been released for the reporting period ending February 3rd and Saint Joseph's College is ranked as the top team in Maine, according to a vote of DIII head coaches from around the state.

The Monks, the #4 team in last week's poll, received 36 total points with four of eight first-place votes and sit ahead of Bowdoin College (30 points), University of Southern Maine (30), UMaine-Farmington (28) and Husson University (8).

Also, junior forward Nicholas Jobin (Westbrook, Maine) has earned MMBCWA weekly honor roll mention for his play in three games during the reporting period. Jobin averaged 15.7 PPG and shot 53.3% (16-30) from the field and 78.9% (15-19) from the charity stripe in a 2-1 week for the Monks. He netted 21 versus Mount Ida on Monday and added 19 in a victory over Emmanuel on Saturday.

Jobin currently leads the Royal Blue in rebounding (5.4 RPG), field goal percentage (.555, 122-220) and free throws made (78) and ranks second on the team in scoring with 14.6 points per contest. His FG% currently ranks as the fourth-highest mark in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC).

Saint Joseph's (14-8, 9-6 GNAC) will host conference-rival Norwich University on Tuesday at 7:30 PM.
