BANGOR, Maine – Husson University (1-0) defeated Saint Joseph's College (1-1), 75-54, in a non-conference men's basketball contest on Thursday evening.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Monks trailed 34-12 with 1:51 left in the first half but managed to cut the deficit down to seven (34-27) with a 15-0 run, which was capped by a Jae Johns (Long Island, N.Y.) bucket at the 17:12 mark of the second stanza. The effort would fall short however, as the Monks' sluggish first-half shooting effort (15.4%, 4-26) proved to be too much to overcome.

- Freshman guard Mario Nery (Bronx, N.Y.) paced the Monks with 11 points and added three rebounds and a pair of assists
- Sophomore guard Ben Malloy (Standish, Maine) netted eight points
- Sophomore guard Darian Berry (Rochester, N.H.) tallied seven points and six rebounds
- Sophomore forward Marc Corey (Londonderry, N.H.) added five points, five rebounds, and six assists
LEADERS – HUSSON:
