Castine, Maine - Three players
scored goals for Maine Maritime (1-2) as the Mariners handed St.
Joe's a 4-2 loss under the lights at Ritchie Field.
Trailing 1-0 after a quick goal by Chad McDuffie, the Monks (1-2-1)
bounced back when junior Harrison Deah (Monrovia,
Liberia) scored with 78 minutes to play. Deah headed the ball past
diving keeper Joshua Heath after a long corner to the back post was
headed to the front post. Senior captain Steve
Jette (Richford, VT) and freshman Kevin
Melega (Easthampton, MA) assisted on the play.
MMA would go up 2-1 as Ben Tourangeau scored at 19:35. With just
under 20 minutes to go in the half, sophomore Scott
Desrosiers (Pascoag, RI) scored for St. Joe's. After a
long corner with a half clean went to the top of the box, Derosiers
hit a first time half-volley to knot the score at 2-2.
Mariner Alan Alexander netted a goal at 68:28 and Tourangeau struck
again at 87:48 to put the match out of reach for the Monks.
The team was without the services of freshmen Philip
Raymond (Harrisville, RI) who had to sit out due to a red
card in the previous game.
Senior keeper Brian White (Colebrook, NH) had five
saves for the Monks.
The team travels to Bates on Sunday, Sept. 18, for a 1 PM contest.
