NEW HAVEN, CT - Joseph Happnie '11 (Rockland, MA) scored a goal five minutes into the second overtime period to lift Saint Joseph's (6-3-3, 3-1-1 GNAC) to a 2-1 conference victory over Albertus Magnus College (6-6-1, 1-4-1) on Saturday. The goal, the first of Happnie's career, helped extend the SJC men's soccer unbeaten streak to a program-record eight games.

St. Joe's would get on the board first early in the second half after the conference rivals played to a scoreless first stanza. Michael Sanfilippo '12 (Walpole, MA) netted his second goal of the season at the 47:44 mark off a throw in to provide the Royal Blue with a 1-0 lead. Lane Hubacz '09 (Mapleville, RI) registered an assist on the play.

With nine minutes remaining in the contest, the Falcons finally solved SJC keeper Will Pike '10 (Gorham, ME), who made five saves in the victory, to knot the game at one apiece. Mike Strong (Clinton, CT) scored the AMC goal on a header finish from a Kyle Kelly (Stratford, CT) corner kick.

After nearly 15 minutes of scoreless play in overtime, Happnie ended the conference contest with his first collegiate marker, with the assist going to Derek Osmond '12 (Rockport, MA).

The Falcons outshot the Monks by a 13-10 margin while SJC held a 7-4 edge in corner kicks.

AMC keeper Gerald O'Connor '10 (Hamden, CT) made four stops in the losing effort.

Saint Joseph's will travel to Newton, MA to take on GNAC foe Mount Ida College on Wednesday, October 15th at 3:30 while the Falcons will look to rebound at Rivier College on Monday at 5:00 PM.
