STANDISH, ME - Saint Joseph's College (4-3-2, 1-1-1 GNAC) defeated conference foe Emerson College (3-6-1, 0-3-0 GNAC), 5-0, on Wednesday afternoon to extend the team's unbeaten streak to five games. Paul Robins ‘11 (Cornwall, England) tallied a goal and two assists and Kevin Melega '09 (Easthampton, MA) and Andre Cushing '10 (Hampden, ME) netted a goal and an assist apiece in the one-sided victory.

The unbeaten streak is the second longest in program history next to the team's six game winning streak in 1998.

Melega ignited the Monks scoring attack in the fifth minute when he converted a breakaway attempt past Lions keeper Jonas Imbert ‘09 (Taunton, MA)for his second goal of the season. Robins recorded an assist on the marker and followed with a goal of his own off an indirect kick three minutes later to put the Monks up, 2-0.

At the 18:12 mark Doug MacCallum ‘10 (Hingham, MA) received a crossing pass from Cushing and netted his team-leading fifth goal of the season. Cushing scored his first of the season seven minutes later off a Robins pass to give the Royal Blue a 4-0 advantage, which would stand until the intermission.

The 4-0 score was intact until the 73:01 mark when Derek Osmond ‘12 (Rockport, MA) netted his first collegiate goal after being sent on a breakaway attempt via a Melega pass.

SJC goalkeeper Will Pike ‘10 (Gorham, ME) made one save in 36 minutes of play before giving way to Nicholas Campasano ‘12 (Goffstown, NH), who made two saved in 54 minutes of relief.

Imbert made one save in net for the Lions, who were outshot 10-6 in the loss.

Saint Joseph's will host Emmanuel College (3-4-1, 1-0-1 GNAC) in conference action on Saturday, October 4th at 3:30 PM while Emerson is set to face off against GNAC foe Johnson and Wales University in Providence, RI on Saturday.
