Monks Handle Saint, 4-1

STANDISH, ME - Saint Joseph's College (5-3-2, 2-1-1 GNAC) extended their unbeaten streak to six games, tied for longest in program history, with a 4-1 conference win over Emmanuel College (3-6-1, 1-2 GNAC) on Saturday afternoon. Doug MaCallum '10 (Hingham, MA) led the charge with a goal and an assist in the triumph.

The Monks got on the board at the 21:07 mark when Michael Sanfilippo '12 (Walpole, MA) netted his first collegiate goal off a pass from Lane Hubacz '09 (Mapleville, RI). St. Joe's carried the 1-0 edge into the intermission.

The Monks poured on the offense in the first 13 minutes of the second half to extend the lead to 4-0. Paul Robins '11 (Cornwall, England) notched his fourth goal of the season from 30 yards out at 49:49 with the assist being credited to MacCallum.

MacCallum scored his team-leading 6th goal of the year in the 53rd minute on an Andre Cushing '10 (Hampden, ME) pass. Cushing recorded his second helper of the game six minutes later on Brandon Noltkamper's '11 (Bath, ME) first NCAA goal to provide St. Joe's with a 4-0 cushion.

Emmanuel scored their lone marker of the match on an indirect kick in the 79th minute. Michael Evans scored the goal with Ivan Barrera receiving the assist.

SJC goalkeeper Will Pike '10 (Gorham, ME) made one save while Emmanuel keeper Carlos Perez made five stops in the losing effort.

The officials were kept busy, as six yellow cards and a pair of red cards were issued in the conference contest. The Monks outshot the Saints 16-6 and held a 7-4 edge in corner kicks.

Saint Joseph's will host non-conference opponent Maine Maritime Academy on Sunday at 2:30 PM.
