Monks Manhandle Raiders, 7-0

NASHUA, NH - Doug MacCallum '10 (Hingham, MA) registered two goals and Paul Robins '11 (Cornwall, England) dealt a pair of assists in a 7-0 conference victory over Rivier College (0-16, 0-8 GNAC) on Saturday. St. Joe's improves to 9-5-3 overall and 6-2-1 in GNAC play with the triumph.

The Monks offense was jumpstarted by an unlikely source: junior back Matthew Loiselle (Woburn, MA), who in 45 career games had not tallied a goal. His first collegiate goal came at the 6:13 mark and was assisted by Kevin Melega '09 (Easthampton, MA). Derek Osmond '12 (Rockport, MA) netted his second goal of the season, off a Robins helper, 14 minutes later to increase the SJC lead to 2-0.

The two-goal edge stood at the halftime break and wasn't extended until the 55th minute when Joseph Happnie '11 (Rockland, MA) capitalized on a MacCallum pass to notch his second goal of the season. The Monks went on to add two more goals, both by MacCallum, in the next four minutes to take a 5-0 lead. Robins was credited with an assist on the first while Osmond added a helper on the second MacCallum tally, which was his 10th of the season, the fourth-highest single-season total in program history.

Jesse West '12 (Enosburg Falls, VT) added his first NCAA goal in the 73rd minute, unassisted, and Banak Thiwat '11 (Cape Elizabeth, ME) chipped in with his first marker of the season, assisted by Zach Hollingshead '12 (Westerly, RI), to cap the game-scoring with St. Joe's firmly in the lead, 7-0.

SJC goalie Will Pike '10 (Gorham, ME) made five saves in 58:27 of play and Nicholas Burridge '10 (Auburn, NY), making his second appearance of the year in net, posted a pair of saves in 31:33 of relief work. MacCallum paced the Monks with five shots, Hollingshead recorded four and Osmond, Melega, Timothy Davison '12 (Danvers, MA) and Mark Decowski '12 (Rochester, NH) all added three shots in the conference victory.

Rivier keeper John Jarvis made 20 saves in the losing effort.

Saint Joseph's will host non-conference opponent Becker College in the team's regular season finale on Sunday at 12:30 PM.
