Shangraw Earns NSCAA All-Region Acclaim

STANDISH, ME – Saint Joseph's College senior Kyle Shangraw (Westbrook, Maine) has earned 2013 National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA)/Continental Tire NCAA Division III Men's All-New England North Region honors.

Shangraw claims Second Team accolades after leading the Monks in goals (13), assists (6), points (32), shots (85), shots on goal (40) and game-winners (6) this fall. The senior midfielder was one of the top players in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) and capped the 2013 campaign ranked second in the conference in goals, points, shots and game-clinchers.

Shangraw, who played previously at Bryant and Stratton Junior College in Syracuse, N.Y. and University of Maine-Orono, posted one of the finest seasons in Saint Joseph's men's soccer history in his only year as a member of the SJC side. He currently owns the Monks' single-season shots record while his game-winning goal tally is third all-time and his 2013 points and goals totals both rank as the fifth-most in the 24-year history of the program.

A 2013 First Team All-GNAC selection, Shangraw was also chosen as the GNAC Player of the Week three times and earned ECAC DIII New England Offensive Player of the Week honors on a pair of occasions this past fall.

Shangraw is the first player in program history to collect an NSCAA/Continental Tire All-Region award and is one of five GNAC players to earn the honor this season.

Saint Joseph's College, 10-8-1 overall and 6-3 in conference play under the watch of fifth-year Head Coach Steve Babineau this fall, earned the #2 seed in the 2013 GNAC Tournament but fell to #7 Albertus Magnus College – the reigning conference champs, 1-0, in a GNAC quarterfinal at Westerlea Way Field on Sunday, November 3rd.
