STANDISH, ME – Saint Joseph's College Men's Soccer Head Coach Steve Babineau has announced that Michael Sanfilippo '12 has been added as an assistant coach.

A four-year starting midfielder and two-year team captain during his college playing days, Sanfilippo brings a great deal to the table for the SJC men's soccer program. An outstanding player and great competitor on the pitch, the Walpole, Massachusetts native earned a pair of All-Conference honors and played in three GNAC Championship matches, and was a key member of two conference champion sides, during his collegiate career.

With Sanfilippo on the field, the Monks posted the best four-year record (46-32-6, .590), including an outstanding 23-12-2 (.657) mark versus GNAC foes, in program history. He left the men's soccer program as the career-leader in games played (82) and tallied 12 goals, six assists and 30 total points, while missing just two contests, over four seasons.

Sanfilippo, a proven winner who brings instant credibility to the position, understands what is required to compete at a high level and has strong ties to Saint Joseph's College.

"Michael was a great player for us and possesses a thorough understanding of the game," adds Coach Babineau. "He certainly knows our system and playing style and will be asked to help with all facets of the game, including recruiting and alumni outreach. I am certain Michael will be a terrific addition to our coaching staff and a positive role model for our student-athletes."
