Bell Named GNAC Men’s Soccer Rookie of the Week

STANDISH, Maine – The Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) weekly honors have been announced and Saint Joseph's College freshman Austin Bell (Gorham, Maine) has been selected as the Men's Soccer Rookie of the Week.

Bell, a forward, scored the first two goals of his collegiate career in a 5-0 triumph over non-conference foe University of Maine-Presque Isle at Westerlea Way Field on Saturday afternoon. Bell potted his first marker at the 24:20 mark off a Garrett Darnell (Gray, Maine) pass and scored again just over 10 minutes later on a penalty kick to secure his first NCAA brace.

Bell currently leads the Monks in goals (2) and has started all five games for Saint Joseph's so far this fall. He is the first SJC men's soccer player to earn GNAC Rookie of the Week accolades since current senior Jason Wade (South Hampton, N.H.) claimed the honor on October 31st, 2011.

St. Joe's will play at University of Southern Maine at 4:00 PM on Wednesday.
