Bell Named GNAC Co-Player of the Week

STANDISH, Maine – The Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) weekly awards have been announced and Saint Joseph's College junior forward Austin Bell (Gorham, Maine) has been selected as the GNAC Corvais Men's Soccer Co-Player of the Week.

Bell almost singlehandedly lifted the Monks to a quarterfinal victory over Mount Ida Saturday, as the junior captain netted three goals in the 4-0 triumph to help his team advance to the semifinals for the first time since 2011.

Through 18 games for the 14-1-4 Monks, Bell has netted six goals with three game-winners and ranks second on the side in both categories. The GNAC weekly honor is the third of his career and second of the season, as the junior captain was also selected as the top player for the reporting period ending October 2nd.

Bell shares the weekly accolade with Norwich University senior Jacob Zimmerman (Litchfield, N.H.), who also tallied a hat trick in a 4-1 quarterfinal victory over Rivier University on Saturday.

Saint Joseph's, the top seed in the GNAC Tournament, will host #4 Suffolk University in semifinal action in a 2:30 PM start at Westerlea Way Field.
