Mattos Selected as GNAC Player of the Week

STANDISH, Maine – The Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) weekly honors have been announced and Saint Joseph's College junior Brett Mattos (Mahopac, N.Y.) has been selected as the GNAC Corvias Men's Soccer Player of the Week.

Mattos enjoyed a stellar start to the season with eight points on three goals and two assists in a pair of SJC shutouts over the weekend. On Friday, the junior forward netted the game- winning strike in a 1-0 triumph over Husson. Mattos was outstanding in a 5-0 victory over University of New England - the only team to defeat the Monks during the 2016 regular sea- son - with two goals (including the GWG) and a pair of assists in the lopsided win.

In 44 career games – all starts – Mattos has scored 22 goals (including eight game-winners) with 10 assists for 54 total points. He currently ranks third in team history in GWG, fourth in goals, and fifth in points.

For Mattos, the player of the week honor is the second of his career. He was selected as the GNAC Rookie and Player of the Week on October 18th, 2015.

Saint Joseph's (2-0-0) kicks off GNAC play this Saturday when the team plays at Johnson & Wales University at 1:00 PM.
