Mattos Collects Second GNAC Player of the Week Award

STANDISH, Maine – The Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) weekly honors have been released and Saint Joseph's College junior forward Brett Mattos (Mahopac, N.Y.) has been chosen as the GNAC Corvias Men's Soccer Player of the Week for the second time this season and third instance of his career.

Mattos tallied four goals and an assist in a 2-0 week for the Monks and broke the program's single game records with four goals and eight total points in a 5-0 victory over Suffolk University on Saturday. All four goals were scored in the second half, including three in just two minutes and 26 seconds late in the final frame.

Through nine games this fall, Mattos has scored 10 goals – including three game-winners - with four assists for 24 total points. He currently leads the GNAC in points and ranks second in goals and game-clinchers.

In 51 career games, Mattos has scored 29 goals with 12 assists for 70 total points and has potted 12 game-winners. He currently ranks second in program history in goals and points and third in game-winning goals.

Saint Joseph's (8-0-1, 4-0-1 GNAC) will next play at Regis (Mass.) Wednesday in a conference contest scheduled to begin at 4:00 PM.
