STANDISH, Maine - The Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) weekly accolades have been announced and Saint Joseph's College senior forward Brett Mattos (Mahopac, N.Y.) has been selected as the GNAC Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week.
Mattos netted three goals with a pair of game-winners last week as the senior scored the clincher in wins over USJ and Bowdoin over the weekend. The Monks' all-time leading scorer became the first SJC men's soccer player to surpass the 100-point plateau in a 5-0 win over the Blue Jays on Saturday.
Through five games for the undefeated Monks, Mattos leads the conference in goals (4) and ranks second in the GNAC in points (8). For his career, the four-year starter has netted 43 goals with 18 assists for 104 total points with 17 game-winning goals in 68 games. He is the Monks' all-time leader in each of the aforementioned categories and currently ranks second among all active NCAA Men's Soccer players (I, II, and III) in goals and points.
For Mattos, the GNAC weekly honor is the seventh of his collegiate career.
The Monks return to action Wednesday with a conference contest at Rivier University (7:00 PM).
