Monks Ranked 5th/10th Nationally, 3rd in New England

STANDISH, Maine – The eighth weekly national and regional NCAA DIII Men's Soccer polls have been released and Saint Joseph's College is ranked fifth and 10th in the D3soccer.com and United Soccer Coaches dockets, respectively, and third in the United Soccer Coaches New England Region poll.

Saint Joseph's, 17-0-0 overall and 11-0-0 in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play through October 23rd, defeated University of Southern Maine (4-0) and Lasell College (13-0) last week and remains as the only NCAA DIII Men's Soccer program in the nation without a loss or tie.

Only four teams in all of NCAA Men's Soccer – out of 828 programs – are undefeated as of October 23rd, as the Monks join DII programs Young Harris (13-0-0) and Simon Fraser (14-0-0) and DI team Saint Mary's (CA) (14-0-0) on the short list.

In the eighth D3soccer.com weekly poll, Saint Joseph's is one of three teams to receive a first-place vote and, with 826 total points, sits behind Messiah (995), Calvin (955), Tufts (896), and Trinity (Texas) (835). Connecticut College (12th, 548) is the only other New England program listed on the poll.

In the seventh United Soccer Coaches national rankings Messiah College remains atop the poll while Tufts University moves up to second, Calvin College is fourth, and University of Chicago falls from the #2 spot to fifth. Connecticut College is ranked seventh after being fifth in last week's poll.

Led by fifth-year Head Coach Adrian Dubois, the Monks remain third in the United Soccer Coaches regional rankings behind Tufts (12-0-2) and Connecticut (11-1-2). Middlebury College (7-2-3), Amherst College (8-3-1), Bowdoin College (9-3-2), Salve Regina University (14-0-3), WPI (11-2-3), Babson College (9-2-4), and Springfield College (11-3-1) make up the remainder of this week's regional poll.

Through 17 games, Saint Joseph's has outscored opponents by a collective 73-1 score with a 419-72 shots advantage. After posting a 19-0-2 record in 2017, the Monks have extended their undefeated streak to 38 games, the longest active streak in NCAA DIII Men's Soccer and the eighth-longest streak in NCAA DIII Men's Soccer history. The last time a team posted an undefeated streak of 38 or more games was Amherst College, which went 40 matches without a setback or tie during the 2012 and 2013 seasons.

The NCAA DIII Men's Soccer record for longest undefeated streak is held by Wheaton (IL), which went 66 games without a loss from September of 1996 to November of 1998.

Saint Joseph's currently leads NCAA DIII Men's Soccer in save percentage (.968), shutout percentage (.941), goals against average (0.056), shots on goal per game (12.47), total goals (73), total points (201), and won-lost-tied percentage (1.000) and ranks second in assists per game (3.24), points per game (11.82), scoring offense (4.29), shots per game (24.65), and total assists (55).
