STANDISH, Maine – Top-seeded Saint Joseph's College (18-0, 11-0 GNAC) will host #4 Colby-Sawyer College (7-7-2, 6-3-2 GNAC) in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Men's Soccer Tournament Semifinal game at the SJC Athletics Complex on Tuesday at 5:30 PM.

HOW THEY GOT HERE:

The Monks defeated #8 Emmanuel College, 1-0, in a tourney quarterfinal on Friday in Standish while Colby-Sawyer blanked #5 Albertus Magnus College, 2-0, at home in another first round contest on Friday.

In the other leg of the bracket, #2 Johnson & Wales University tipped #7 Regis College, 1-0, and #3 Norwich University slipped past #6 University of Saint Joseph, 2-1. The Wildcats will host the Cadets in the other GNAC semifinal contest at 7:00 PM on Tuesday.

WHAT'S NEXT?

The semifinal winners will meet in the 2018 GNAC Championship game, which will be played on Saturday, November 3rd with the highest remaining seed serving as the host. The GNAC Champion earns an automatic berth into the 2018 NCAA DIII Men's Soccer Championship, which begins on Saturday, Nov. 10th.

• Junior defender Noah Robinson (Wappingers Falls, N.Y.), who does a bit of everything for the Monks, is tied for the GNAC lead in GWG and has eight goals and 20 total points this fall

Colby-Sawyer:

• Senior Noah Camelo (Marblehead, Mass.) leads the Chargers in goals (6), points (12), and game-winning goals (2)
• Freshman forward Ryan Kresco (Moultonborough, N.H.) has scored five goals with 10 total points
• Freshman Tim Driscoll (Framingham, Mass.) leads the team in assists (6) with eight total points on the season

KEEPER COMPARISON:

Saint Joseph's:

Senior Blake Mullen (Manchester, Conn.), a two-time GNAC Goalkeeper of the Year and 2017 D3soccer.com Second Team All-American, currently leads the country in goals-against average (0.066) and save percentage (.960) and is the NCAA Men's Soccer (all levels) active leader, by a wide margin, in career goals-against average (0.250) and is second among active players in save percentage (.906) and shutouts (34).

Sophomore David Walbridge (Hampden, Mass.) has seen increased time in net this fall with 351:18 minutes of shutout play while making eight stops and notching a pair of shutouts.

Colby-Sawyer:

The Chargers have essentially split time in goal this fall, as freshman Lucas Boetsch (Rockport, Maine) has logged 756 minutes and senior Shane Sacks (Huntington Station, N.Y.) has totaled 697 minutes during the 2018 campaign. Boetsch has started in three of the last for games for Colby-Sawyer and is 6-1-1 with three shutouts, a 1.19 goals-against average, and a .773 save percentage with 10 goals allowed and 34 stops.

Sacks is 1-6-1 with one shutout, a 2.20 goals-against average, and a .726 save percentage with 45 saves and 17 goals allowed.

ATTITUDE REFLFECTS LEADERSHIP:

Saint Joseph's Head Coach Adrian Dubois, now in his fifth season as the Monks' sideline general, owns a 68-24-9 (.673) career record, including a 37-9-2 (.770) mark in GNAC play and is the winningest coach in SJC men's soccer history. This fall, the back-to-back GNAC Coach of the Year honoree guided St. Joe's to the first perfect conference record since 2011, when Albertus Magnus College went 10-0-0 versus GNAC foes.

Under his watch, Saint Joseph's has evolved from a 5-15-0 team in 2014 to a nationally-ranked program. Last fall, Dubois helped lead the Monks to their first-ever NCAA Tournament victory, a 2-1 triumph over Mitchell College, and a 19-0-2 final record after falling to reigning national champion Tufts University in PK's in the second round.

Colby-Sawyer Head Coach Charles Metz, in his third year for the Chargers, has a 28-21-3 (.539) career record with a 20-6-3 (.690) mark in conference play. Last fall, Metz led the Chargers to an 11-7 overall record, including an 8-1 mark versus conference foes, en route to making an appearance in the 2017 North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Championship.

THE LAST TIME WE MET:

The Monks defeated the Chargers by a 4-0 score at the SJC Athletics Complex on September 26th. St. Joe's held sizeable leads in shots (24-0), shots on goal (9-0), and corner kicks (8-3) in the victory.

Mattos, Mitchell Duncan (Sanford, Maine), Kuma Onyejose (East Greenwich, R.I.), and Jonathan Brackett (Hollis, N.H.) found the back of the net in the 4-0 conference triumph.

HISTORICALLY SPEAKING:

Saint Joseph's is 2-0-1 in the history of the series with Colby-Sawyer College, which joined the GNAC this fall after competing in the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) since 2011. Prior to the 2018 regular-season matchup, these two teams had not faced off in men's soccer since the Monks topped the Chargers by a 2-1 score in New London, N.H. on October 19th, 1991.

POSTSEASON HISTORY:

The Monks have advanced to the GNAC Tournament every season since the College joined the conference in the fall of 2007. Saint Joseph's is 15-7 in GNAC postseason play with GNAC Championships in 2009, 2011, 2016 and 2017.

Colby-Sawyer has advanced to the postseason in each of the last eight seasons and this year's second-round appearance is the Chargers' fourth semifinal game during the same span. Colby-Sawyer last won a conference championship in 1997 when the side claimed the Commonwealth Coast Conference crown.
